Our Year 5 and Year 6 football teams have been busy playing in cup competitions this half term. Y5 travelled to Christchurch Primary School and narrowly lost 2-1 having taken the lead initially.
This week our Year 6 team played a strong Netherbrook team and as with our Year 5 team took an early lead through Archie Hudson. They took the lead into the second half but unfortunately couldn't keep the Netherbrook attack at bay and, after a fantastic save by Luke Hodges, an attacker was on hand to poke home the equaliser. The match ended 1-1 at full time and therefore extra time beckoned. Netherbrook continued to get stronger and ended up scoring a further 4 goals to leave the final score at 5-1 to Netherbrook.
This term has seen qualifying for the Dudley Tag rugby championships. We are the reigning champions of the last 2 years and for the first time this year, entered an A and a B team into the competition.
Both teams played tremendously well and progressed through to the final games of the day which decided the 4 teams moving on to the next round in the Spring term.
Sadly the B team lost out to Glynne Primary 5 tries to 2 however the A team won through defeating an improving Thorns Primary team 7 tries to 5. The big question now is-Can we become Dudley Tag Rugby Champions for the third year in succession?
